Alvedia’s History
Founded in 2010 Alvedia is a family business where innovation in veterinary transfusion medicine is led by the scientific expertise of Pr Dominique Rigal and the entrepreneurial vision of Alice Rigal.
“Our strength lies in our shared vision and values, which emphasize the reliability of our technologies”
Pr Dominique Rigal
Co-founder and CSO
Dominique is behind the development of the complete range of canine, feline and equine blood group monoclonal antibodies. These highly specific antibodies improve the safety and effectiveness of animal blood transfusions by ensuring compatibility between donors and recipients, thus preventing the risk of transfusion reactions.
“In the early 1990s, a major breakthrough in RBC routine serology emerged with the introduction of the gel test, first published in TRANSFUSION. Developed by DiaMed (Cressier, Switzerland), this innovative technique led to the creation of column agglutination tests, eliminating the need for washing and shaking RBCs during the AGT. By removing two major causes of false-negative results, the gel test quickly gained popularity, and by the 2000s, it was used by over 90% of European laboratories“
Alice Rigal
